
1. Steam
Steam is an effective method for thinning mucus, making it much easier to flush from the system.
Turn on a hot shower and sit at the closed bathroom for a few minutes, inhaling the steam. Do this several times each day to alleviate congestion.
Pour boiled water into a large bowl. You can add a couple drops of eucalyptus oil or eucalyptus oil into the water to boost the curing effects. Do this as needed to ease congestion.
2. Fenugreek
Add one tbsp of fenugreek seeds into one-half quart of water. Boil it till it's reduced to one-third of its original volume. Strain the solution, and then add one teaspoon of fresh ginger juice and a few drops of honey. Drink this once each day for three or four days.
In the morning, strain the seeds out and warm the liquid up. Gargle with it to soothe a sore throat. Do this once or twice per day for a few days.
3. Peppermint
Peppermint is another herb widely utilized to fight flu symptoms. It's loaded with nutrients which help the body fight off infection. It's menthol that acts as an expectorant, helping the body cough up mucus and therefore relieving congestion, soothing a sore throat and calming cough signs.
Add one tbsp of chopped peppermint leaves to a cup of hot water. Let it simmer for 10 minutes, then strain and then add some honey to sweeten it. Drink the tea while it's still warm. Have three to four cups daily for a fast recovery.
You can even combine fresh peppermint leaves in salads or soups.
