Vitamins for Beautiful Skin

Natural beauty is the latest mantra of the beauty world. They say that your skin is the fingerprint of what is going on inside your body. If you feed your skin the right thing, it is bound to reflect on the outside. Vitamins have always been the best and easiest way for great skin. They do not have to be in the form of expensive creams and lotions or pills; they are simply included in our daily diet and a daily dose of them in your diet will make you glow.

Vitamins A, B, C, E and K are the heroes responsible for your beauty. Vitamin A is invaluable in strengthening the protective tissue of the skin. A recommended dosage helps to fight acne, reduce sebum production, repairs tissues and flushes out free radicals and toxins from the body. It is found in food such as sweet potatoes, baby carrots, mango, spinach, cantaloupe, milk, and egg yolks. Vitamin B is very essential for having good nails, skin and hair. The most essential B vitamin is biotin. A mild deficiency of this vitamin causes symptoms. Foods rich in vitamin B-6 and B-12 include salmon, flounder, chicken, turkey, and beef.

Interestingly we have always had a long association with Vitamin C, due to the childhood nature of being susceptible to colds and coughs. This vitamin is found in most of the citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, strawberries, grapefruit as well as in kiwis, papaya, broccoli, leafy vegetables and raw peppers. Vitamin C is very helpful in counteracting the free-radical damage caused by too much sun exposure.

Vitamin E is advocated by all beauty brands and beauty queens, for being powerful in the qualities of moisturization, softness and smoothness of the skin. Apart from being found in foods such as sunflower seeds, wheat germ, peanut butter, almonds, canned salmon, canned tuna fish, olive oil, and lobster, it can also be taken as a supplement as the above list is not always easily accessible.

Vitamin K, though lesser known is nevertheless important for its blood clotting properties. It is also effective for removing dark circles and bruises. It is a fat-soluble vitamin, easily found in breakfast cereals, spinach, soybeans, green tea, cabbage and cauliflowers. Thus, an effective diet plan inclusive of this easy list of vitamin-rich foods will surely make you the proud owner of a rich, glowing and healthy skin!
